Variable-Step Multiscale Fuzzy Dispersion Entropy: A Novel Metric for Signal Analysis

Fuzzy dispersion entropy (FuzDE) is a newly proposed metric, which combines the superior characteristics of fuzzy (FE) and (DE) in signal analysis. However, FuzDE only reflects feature from original signal, ignores hidden information on time scale. To address this problem, we introduce variable-step multiscale processing propose (VSMFuzDE), realizes characterization abundant scale information, not limited by length like traditional processing. The experimental results for both simulated signals show that VSMFuzDE more robust, sensitive to dynamic changes chirp has separability noise signals; addition, displays best classification performance real-world experiments compared other four metrics, highest recognition rates five gear ship-radiated noises reached 99.2% 100%, respectively, achieves accurate identification two different categories signals.
